Whirlybird. Weird wild and wonderful...things that go good together.
I've been struggling with all sorts of things pulling me in all sorts of directions. It's like I've had some sort of idea overload. They aren't all good ideas. Most of them are crap, quite honestly. But they just keep coming at me and I grab a good one if I see it go by...
Let's start with this: Did you ever see the Talented Mr. Ripley? Movie with Matt Damon, Jude Law? Anyway, it's about a guy who is basically completely psychotic. He is really just nobody, but he is pretending to be someone important. And he lives a fake life. But he would rather be a fake somebody than a real nobody. This is striking a cord with me right now. Humans are so interesting...
Here's another thing: Seriously, I am so NOT feeling being an Earthling right now. I have this sudden and deep notion that I am cosmically lost on the wrong planet. I feel very elemental and molecular. Aware of the humanness I am somehow stuck inside of - it feel so strange and talk about uncomfortable!
And there is: ugh...Religion... I hate to even bring it up, but I'm forced with a situation that is giving me pause. The girls have a father who has turned religious. A year ago, he bailed on me for some chick he met on the internet. Now, he's suddenly found God. And If that isn't the biggest nutty monkey thing you've heard all day then we don't hang out enough. Greaaat. Because now he wants to teach my daughters about these things. And suddenly the sun is just a little too bright in my eyes. Burns. Really? Ugh. Fuck my everlasting life...
And Finally: The interesting drug that is my music of 2009. So far is has included new albums by Green Day, DMB, SilversunPickups, White Rabbits, U2, and more. The renaissance of the Grease Soundtrack - we are all doing the hand jive! A bit of retro Clapton as well. Which is just so fucking good. And going to a few shows with these and some other bands including both the Shiny Toys Guns, who I had never seen before live - amazing! and No Doubt, which was even way better than I could have hoped. Throw in the radio that won't stop playing some Michael Jackson everywhere I go and you've got the summer soundtrack so far. What an interesting mix tape.
And those are just some of the things on my mind. Somehow I'm all over the map and getting nowhere all at the same time. And I'm grateful knowing that I have a good book to get my mind off of it all and great friends to hang out with and keep me busy. Keep me out of trouble.
And now it looks as though the girls are leaving for a few weeks vacation in Arizona. And I will be left to my own devices.
It's going to be...interesting.
Well Thought Out Twinkles by SilversunPickups
What was that scar situated from afar
What was that light integrated in your mind
What have you done it's too early for everyone
Wait for that sign spilling over and passed in time
Come join in the last hurrah with open sores and open jaw
Find one last flaw and keep it safe and free from harm
What have you done it's too early for everyone
So smile go inside come to see there is no sign
Now here we are revisiting
A time a place a whole industry well we
We promise we'll be leaving soon
We share apocalyptic views
How comforting that we feel it too
Who are we to promise we'll be leaving shortly
Come join in the last hurrah with open sores and open jaw
What was that light integrated in your mind
What have you done it's too early for everyone
Wait for that sign spilling over and over and
Over and over and over and over
