To start anew and fresh with the beginning of the starts and such.
The high school where Abigail just started has got a brand new and very cool stadium. New bleachers, new (and high tech type) field, and hopefully some new bathrooms cause the other ones were definitely NOT fresh or new. So not only is it her first game ever in the marching band, but there is going to be a whole ribbon cutting extravaganza, etc. with the Mayor and all that jazz.
I love this sort of thing. Beginnings.
The chance to start fresh with something and putting your mark on it. (Not to mention that the old stadium was tired, crummy and uncomfortable at best)
The start of school is always so great because it comes with a chance to start with a clean slate. New things to learn, new boundaries to test, new teachers to get used to and a too heavy bag full of fresh new crayons, pencils and blank sheets of paper for all of the brilliant ideas that are sure to come our way.
Summer flew right by us. I know we moved and we were unpacking and everything, but c'mon! We barely got a chance to see it whip right past us like a interstate rest stop. I can't believe it's September and you can go out right now and buy some Christmas decor.
I hate all these minutes slipping away.
So, right now, I'm attempting to enjoy the right now.
The chill in the morning air that means Autumn is on her way. Football season starting, including my daughter in her band uniform on that new field showing off all her new skills tomorrow night. Planning a camping trip to Doheny with my family. The next four weeks are going to be non-stop for us and I'm honestly looking forward to the hustle and bustle that would have frightened the socks off of me just a few short months ago.
Seems I got my head screwed back on right just in time to pull my hair out a little. With a smile on my face. Because I believe in this right now, and I intend to drink it down in big gulps with a flourish and an enormous grin. Live in the now.
I have no other time.
My time is now.
Fresh start. Clean slate.
Here at the beginning.
Now.
